Nice will not organise the Olympic Games in 2018

The UMP Deputy Mayor of Nice Christian Estrosi expressed his support for the candidacy of Annecy in a statement.

"The city of Annecy can count on our support in the hope that France may have the honor of hosting the Olympic Games."

Today, the CNOSF accepted the nomination of Annecy to represent France in the race for the 2018 Olympic Games, for which Nice was also in the race.

"This application has allowed us to make our mountains better known! Everyone knows today that we can ski in the Southern Alps, an area that has snow and exceptional weather conditions" says Christian Estrosi.

The city of Nice is thinking about the organization of major sporting events such as (...) World Championship skating, European Championships of Gymnastics in 2012 and Euro 2016, if France is selected as the host ". The city also wants to try his luck in the Olympics of 2020 or 2024.
